Howdy, cowboy, and welcome to 3 songs - the online live music photography portfolio of superstar guitarist* and part-time-takes-his-hobby-a-little-bit-too-seriously music photographer Haje Jan Kamps.
If you feel like might have heard of Haje before (which is somewhat unlikely, unless you're a family member or friend following a link in an e-mail to his latest project. Hi, mom!), it's probably because he also runs the Photocritic photography blog, where he, among other things, wrote a popular artice about concert photography.
When photographing a live gig, concert photographers (even the fancy ones with accreditations and access to the photo pit in front of the stage) are usually limited to taking photos during the first 3 songs of a band's set.
Yes, that means that if you don't manage to get a good photo in 10 minutes, you're stuffed. But that's part of the challenge, really! Also, Haje deluded himself into thinking it's a moderately clever name, and the domain was still available, so it stuck.
If you like what you see on this site, and would like to contact Haje to do some live concert photography for you and your band, try e-mailing him on hajejan@kamps.org.
He's based in London, so that's handy if you, y'know, do gigs in, er, London. And not very useful at all if you mostly gig in, say, Paraguay. He has been known to globetrot from time to time, however, so if you've got an opportunity outside of the M25, get in touch anyway. You never know.
*) Only if Guitar Hero III counts. You wouldn't want to pass him an actual guitar. Certainly not one plugged into an amp.
